Axolotl Information
Don't miss our premium axolotl care sheet for more information on keeping this fascinating aquatic pet salamander. We offer various morphs and sizes (babies to adults) at different times of the year, including wild type, albino, leucistic, white albino, GFP (glows under blacklight), melanoid, mosaic, copper, and dalmation.
This species will eat live earthworms, waxworms, frozen bloodworms, salmon pellets, and live fish. Interestingly, they can regenerate limbs, and even brain material, which is why axolotls are regularly studied by researchers around the world.
Axolotls originated from just two high elevation lakes in Mexico, but they are currently critically endangered in the wild. They can live for 10-15 years in captivity, and are very low maintenance pets. You'll want to keep your's in a fully aquatic aquarium or tank with plastic (or live) plants and a gravel (larger stones) or bare-bottomed substrate.
The axolotls for sale on our website are always 100% captive bred in the United States at the Frog Ranch, which means their genetics are unparalleled.
Sexing Your Axolotl
Please feel free to request a male or female salamander (or any combination thereof) when you purchase our medium and adult sized axolotls, but please be aware that we cannot guarantee the sex. However, we can guarantee that someone very experienced with amphibians will attempt to select the specific salamander(s) you are requesting.
Hatching Your Axolotl Eggs
Your fertilized eggs will arrive safely, and should be put into a shallow container of water at or below room temperature. 68F is ideal, but a few degrees difference above or below this mark is fine. They will hatch in 4-14 days. Feed your baby axolotls baby brine shrimp, daphnia, or microworms. They will soon accept ground food pellets.
Shipping Your Axolotl
We charge a flat $49.99 for overnight delivery to your doorstep, regardless of the number of reptiles, amphibians, or inverts you buy. This species ships very well. Please read our shipping information page before ordering. Sorry, we do not ship internationally (U.S. only), and we cannot ship axolotls into California. Our delivery schedule can be found below:

Amphibians are generally slower-moving than reptiles, and have uniquely moist skin which means they are never far from a source of water. Their life cycle is nothing short of incredible: they hatch in water, spend weeks or months in metamorphosis, then become either terrestrial or remain primarily water bound. Some salamanders even breathe through their skin! Our live amphibians for sale online include frogs, toads, salamanders, and newts. Some are huge, some are small, and virtually all are amazing to observe in captivity. When you buy amphibians from us, you can rest assured they are fully guaranteed to arrive alive and in great condition. Why not start an amphibian breeding project today?
Reptile and amphibian food should be varied, which is why we offer an array of feeder insects for sale. We offer live crickets for sale, as well as dubia roaches, mealworms, wax worms, nightcrawlers, and now even lizards, all at the lowest possible prices. Our reptile and amphibian feeder insects and lizards include a guarantee of live arrival.
